Volunteerism

A paid internship and caddie program held at historic, DC-based Langston Golf Course in which high school students develop valuable life and workforce skills. As a guest lecturer, I teach financial literacy and budgeting skills as well as potential paths to life after high school. This innovative program is a pathway to college for these under-served students.

​The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities program is designed to help disabled veterans navigate physical limitations, psychological challenges, and social obstacles through entrepreneurship. For 15 years, I served as a lecturer, business plan competition judge and mentor to veterans in the Connecticut chapter of this impactful program. Given the sacrifice that these vets have made for us all, my participation was a small way of expressing my gratitude.

I serve as a Professional in Residence/volunteer career coach within the George Washington University Center for Career Services. I engage directly with college students through career conversations, mentorship, and industry insight. I support students' growth by offering personalized guidance on navigating career decisions, building job search skills, and preparing for the transition from college to the workforce. My particular focus is working with first generation college students.

For many years, I have been a mentor to young people from underserved communities. I have begun working with these great kids when they were in middle or high school. It is especially gratifying to see them go on to and graduate from college and then begin their careers. Today, I am fortunate to consider some of these young people friends.
